Waimangu thermal area, just south of Tarawera Volcano in New Zealand, holds the world’s record for the highest geyser eruption – 460 meters in the early 1900s – but now is famous for its more gentle and beautiful hot springs. Yellowstone in the United States, Iceland, and the North Island of New Zealand all have wonderful geothermal features.   Photo copyright Barbara Decker
