Cerro Negro
(Spanish for Black Hill) is a cinder cone volcano that first appeared in 1850. More than 20 eruptions later it is still growing. This time exposure at night shows the arcs of glowing clots of lava thrown from a vent near the base of Cerro Negro in 1968.                                             Photo © R.W. Decker
